if it's bent valves it would seem the pistons arent the problem.

As long as the piston design is sound, for a relatively low powered engine they dont need to be super dooper forged etc. They just need to be a decent design.

Agreed with Stevieturbo, you really must have the pistons out, if this is happening.

an smoke was coming out of the wheel arch which was coming from the oil catch tank so i disconnected the top breather hose to see what looked like smoke/compression pumping out which didnt look right to me.
so i turned it off straight away.
Would bent valves cause that??

If the valve guides have been damaged and these are allowing pressure past then maybe.

But more to the point...how the hell did it end up with bent valves ? The timing belt must have jumped teeth or something

Chain on the Duratecs, if a timing chain guide/tensioner has failed and then timing slipped you'd expect it to make a noise wouldn't you? Just trying to remember if the cam sprockets are keyed on them, don't think they are. Must be a couple of years since working on a Duratec chain.

Looks like they aren't keyed, so just held by the bolts.

Has any work been done to the cams when the supercharger was fitted?
