Default Range Rover Sport

Does anyone on here run one ? What are they like etc ? Insurance wont cost a thing to change and nor is there any difference in road tax to what Im paying .

I expect it to be a little thirstier and are they something that can be remapped ? Known faults etc

Genuine first hand experience from people who own or have owned one would be really appreciated

They are ok if you have a good warrenty, or plenty of money or if you know what your doing with vehicles as they can like all Land Rover stuff be a pain in the arse, but when there ok you will not find a better vehicle.

Dads got tdv8 for step mums car
Expensive brakes
Thirsty
And it's now decided to not boost properly!

And any turbo work is body off job.
That's all I know from what he has told me

My uncle had a supercharged sport only kept it 6 months due it drinking like a fish.
I hate them it's a classless wannabe footballer / barbie car driven by twats or women with plastic tits.

You need 2 as one will be at dealers broken all the time.

Girlfriends sister has one and it's in and out of the dealers like a yo-yo

I've had one for 7 months, it's a 2.7 TDV6

Getting roughly 27mpg, it's costing me Ł110 a week in fuel due to miles it doing

Not had any faults with it yet, was serviced at Land Rover last Friday - Ł400

The stickers are off the tyres now

I really like these but can't see why the body has to come off, admittingly i've never worked on one but it seems stupid to design something where the body has to come off!

Surely it's easier to remove the head with the turbo attached than remove the body?

As said though, a normal l322 seems a better bet, the boot just isn't big enough on a sport and whats the point in a two piece tailgate like it is on the sport with both parts openning upwardly.

I'd get a "proper" one my dad's car front had one of these and a fully equipped Vogue in at the same when you get them side by side you realise how different they are, same when you get out of one into the other.

If you want performance you'd be mad to get a sport, same to be said if you want an offroader, strange car really not very good at anything but look OK. That said I don't even think they look as good as a vogue with all the bits on it.

Electronic air suspension can be a bastard, i have the 1998 dse and had my share of problems with it, if you buy one make sure everything works, if not walk away.

I work for a main dealer mate and yes it does seem a daft idea to have to take the body off but trust me its impossible and more time consuming job trying to change a turbo on one. Takes 3 hrs to take body off a sport and its a very easy job to do. For the op save abit more money and buy a proper l322 with tdv8 very nice and not as much goes wrong with them compared to sports, nick.

I had to do a sump gasket on one and guess what it was a body off and engine lifted out job mate tdv8 sport again. Were doing 2 or 3 turbos or actuators a month at minuite so there a very common problem.

I wouldn't buy one outside of RR's warranty. A couple of work colleagues have them. Each time I've gone for something different. I had a Cayenne and then went for an ML which are both great cars and been hassle free in comparison to the sports.

know a few people that have had them. this one guy I knew said that it cost him Ł9000 a year just on fuel to run his range rover sport - bare in mind he used it everyday and racked up some seriously high milage. was a good runner though and he never had any problems.

Dont know much about them but aren't the 'proper' Range Rovers a better bet? Are they more reliable than the Sports? I'm swaying to an L322 over an X5 at the moment!

Go for a well looked after Range Rover Classic, or a P38 with the coil spring conversion.

No.

Well, yes, but a better way of putting it would be. "Proper Range Rovers aren't quite as woefully unreliable as Range Rover Sports".

if you ask anyone on a forum about a car then people will only have heard the horror storys i'm afraid, they are the ones that travel.....

i like em personally, they look good and thats all that matters, i wouldnt buy a car worrying about what might fail, buy the car you want and enjoy it.
