Default CAT heat shield rattling, solutions?

Mine has started to rattle at around 2/2.5k rpm, very annoying.

Can it just be re-bolted on to make it more secure so it doesnt rattle? pretty sure the condition of it its fine as the car was on a ramp a few months ago when i had a backbox, it looked fine.

I'm not sure I can come across as anything other than sarcastic however I type this.

You have something that you suspect is loose and your question is can it be bolted back in place?

If I have indeed read that right then the answer is - YES.

Edit - PS if it's anything other than the painfully obvious then I'm sorry my mechanicing skills were at full stretch on the first answer. You might have to go to a main dealer.

If you do take it off, don't park the car on grass, the heat from the cat has been known to dry the grass out and set fire to it. That's why the heatshield is there.

Really, IMO I couldn't see it being much that of a issue to be honest. we could make a massive list of all the what ifs itl not happen just get it taken off.

The shield on the top side? its there to deflect heat down wards?

Replace it? mock up a new one? piece of piss really... rebolting will be difficult, ones on there now are probably fused right on, if the shield isn't fucked now it will be after they're off.

Standard exhaust on there? if not I'd just bin it then heat wrap that part of the exhaust .

depends what's there, if there's some sort of thread to go at then get a repair washer and just fix it back in place. binning it is just a bit pikey.

Thanks for the replys, pretty straight forward fix then

And I will be keeping it, not going to run the car without it

Oh and it's a standard exhaust, use the car too much to have anything noisey
