i have an 04 focus tddi, recently replaced engine which has now died AGAIN due to oil pressure issues so im purchasing yet another

basically what i need to know is the differences between the c9da/b/c engines.
the original that came from the 04 plate had a plastic thermostat housing however the replacement had an aluminium one which leaked and had to be replaced, i think that there are also a few other differences also.
is the c9da a newer model than the c9dc or vice versa??? i have been offered a c9da engine and want to know if this came in the mk1 or mk2 model so i can get an estimate of how old the engine is.
