Hello my fault i know but i had a letter saying i must be in court in march,my car tax was 2 months out of date should i plead guilty by post or turn up.Is there any thing i could do to save money and stress any ideas on how much cash they want to get out of me. cheers every one.

If you're broke and will struggle to pay any penalties, turn up and tell them... they'll likely arrange a payment scheme to pay the total amount back at 45p per month or something along those lines.

If you decided to risk it for a biscuit and stick two fingers up to the system by rolling without tax, but have actually got the cash to pay the fine and the 2-3 months worth of 'free' road tax you'd been using in their eyes, then just plead guilty by post and take your medicine.

reply by letter and tell them you have sent sorn and they must have not recieved it
also enclose pics off car off road , like in a garage or something say it getting restored or major repairs or something along those lines and thats why you sorned it
worked for me when i got same letter for my 3door which i forgot to sorn

theyll hit you with a fine and some backdated tax.i cant second guess how much because i dont know any details.
if you want to save money and stress in future buy some road tax.

There has to be more to it than out of date tax for them to issue a court summons? Have you ignored the letters demanding payment of fine etc? I got caught without tax and got a letter with fine demanding 12 months back tax plus 6 months to tax the car. Luckily for me I was on my way for mot so a quick letter back to them soon upset em :-D

how did they win? he didn't pay his car tax, i have to pay so why not every other person driving a car on the highway?

Agreed, you wouldn't expect a car to move without fuel so lets be responsible and keep on Road Tax, M.O.T.s, Licenses, etc... glad its sorted now but you shouldn't lie it's irresponsible ownership like chavs on ROAD WARS or POLICE ITERCEPTORS in banged up cars with no licenses.
