Default Mk1 FRS info

Off to look at a few tommorow, just wondering the common problems or anything to look out for??

Also one of them has just reached 100k! is this a problem or are they still half sharp with this sort of mileage?? Any info's great.

Thanks Rob

think they seem ok for milage from what i can make out..

they can be a fooker for water leaks.
thermostat housing leak.
water pipe in wheelarch leak
heater matrix pipes can suddenly go as well

make sure the chargecooler pump works (open the little pot when engine is running and make sure there is a jet of water in there)

clutch might need doing at that mileage, they are getting on for 1k fitted, unless you do it yourself obviously.

sumps can go rusty

dont worry if the paint is quite 'orange peel'... that probably just means its the original paint

Only thing edging me to a higher mileage one obv is the price tbh.. that way id have the spare cash to buy and build another engine to my own spec. Id be looking at uprating the suspension and bushes ect so they dont really bother me as long as its not a death trap and gonna fall apart lol.

Few others have mentioned water leaks so ill have a good look at all the housings ect.
Cheers

to be honest, you can get the standard engine to over 300 bhp.
some are going on towards 400 now and ive not heard of any bad things happening.
and that'll be fast enough!

the engine and gearbox are proper solid on them!

suspension bushes etc might be going. im just in the process of doing mine now.

300 is easy with an actuator remap and not much else.

mines done 110k and still going strong on original suspension and bushes.

clutches as stated arent cheap

Im a mechanic by trade so fitting shouldnt be a problem.

Have you had any problems with yours other than the usual wear and tear?
