Is it quite a mild cam, would it be fine on a stage 3 engine or are you just better leaving the standard cams in under 400 brake?

From what I have heard its very much like a bd14 but you don't need cutouts, what cam do you have now, Steve went to a AB07 from a std cam and the results were good, but then its all in mapping

Hi.

I have just serviced original RS500 turbo.
Wonder how it fits with the Mountune MT29/MT30 cams (288ş 11.6mm / 282ş 9.6mm)?

Sorry mate, Its done well up to now and its not shy'd away from producing good figures, the only downside to it is its actually restricting you from really testing that turbo and all your other bits - I would be tempted to start you 200 build soon

AB07 has 8.85mm lift and 256 degrees duration

BD14 has8.91mm lift and 261 degrees duration.

You dont need valve cutouts with the AB07

Standard Cam (BD8) is 8.5mm lift and 241

The exhaust wheel of a t4 is big, hence being slightly more laggy, where a gt30 has too small a ex wheel for the compressor wheel but gives good response.

Mat, I've no idea why any body would want to run that boost on a t4, rediculous IMO

Gareth, I wouldn't advise that comp ratio but have driven one at 7.2 and the word for it is raw, very un progressive, awesome feeling but in the real world not good

Jim you'll be talking about the cr turbos gt30 there.
The gt30 thats on the garrett website is what Brammer has and I had.
It's smaller than cr turbos version with a 6 blade turbine wheel not 7.
I remember you dad saying that turbo (smaller version) spooled up quicker but the cr turbo version made more bhp.

Looks great Luke, altho the interior was almost too good to strip - have you kept it? Have to say I prefer the weels you have on it too. Should be well north of 500 hp by the time you've finished matey, good work but I bet your wallet has been significantly lightened now!

Been saying it the last couple of years, but hopefully catch you at a show this year chap.

Thanks mate, yep my wallet is significantly lighter but enjoy spending money on her
I didn't keep the interior as it took up too much space it's only resale value that will be affected and I'm not gong to sell up any time soon it is fookin noisy though

Yes mate, I've still got your number so would be great to catch up and have a good old chinwag.. Will prObably be at central day although carless!

Thats it Justin, i have a 4inch anti surge, 6 fin compressor wheel with the .60 A/R housing - seems to be lot's of info on the net around the skyline forums regarding the difference between the 6 and 7 blade but it completely baffles the shite out of me - apparently the 6 is the newer version and better - loads of talk about GT3037 which i think is HKS spec (not 100% on that but..)

The Hart inlet, intercooler moded with a 70mm outlet to match the TB and air injectors.

Still needs to go for mapping

my mate has been in my car who has the cr turbos gt3076 and said he thought mine spooled up quicker than his.

cr turbo's use the 7 blade with a .70 A/R compressor which is the same as a gt35. this has a 4" intake but not anti surge like ours.

From how it reads on the skyline forum the 7 blade version with the .70 A/R is not ideal - so are you keeping the GT on for now until the BW is available

no mate, its already sold and replaced with a bw300sx, twin scroll manifold and a straight through 4" exhaust system.

i'll see what this turbo is like but if i want the new efr turbo everything is already done. i will only need my exhaust modding.

That's not a fair comparison as two engines can differ massively, the only fair way is to try both turbos on the same engine and see the difference

I don't think we have used a 6 blade, but I don't think the 7 blade is a gt35 wheel they're much bigger

28psi a turbo is an air pump why not let it pump some air lol put some boost into it people run almost that in a t34 with 350

ah true but 28psi on a t4 for a t34 to pump the same volume of air would prob need to run at 40 plus psi all the time

Your missing the point, at that boost it should be making a minimum of 460bhp I'd expect my own engine to be making 480/90 at that boost

my SCS built 500 engine with a T4 made 545hp with 31psi so 28psi is not really low boost in comparison

Yes Steve correct a set up.

That doesn't include dialling cams in.

We checked the base calibrations and ensured the car was safe for hard use, which it was,

When the car was mapped some years ago it was peaking at 2.2 bar holding 2 bar to the limiter,

Carry on trying to stir shit all you like pal, I expect nothing more from you these days tbh!

If Doug wants us to up the boost and find every ounce of power he has available all he needs to fo is ask and we will do so.

If you study the rolling road day you will see some of our off the shelf calibrations did quite well, and looking at the maps side by side dougs has more ign and more fuel but makes less power lol that's dyno bollocks for you

if those are the facts,, and he hasnt got any other issues (like his front pulley key has warn) than its either cam timing,, or dyno shit
