Default My Car At FMS Field Motor Sport

My Head Gasket Blew on My 1.6 EFi Turbo And Now Is at FMS For the engine to be Stripped Then Put Back Together With a new " better " Gasket and some other bits.

The gasket that blew was Rated up to 300BHP but it just wasn't enough for the power and gave up.

Has anyone else had work done by them, i know they are very professional at their work and i have heard some great things about them, i recon i'm safe in thinking once they have the engine back together its going to be interesting lol.

As the engine is out of the car at the moment, the engine will also be Dyno'd which will also be interesting.

I'm looking forward to getting her back after being re assembled by " REAL " Competition Engine Technitions.

Field motorsport are a good bunch from what i read, did a lot of work on Mark Kinseys 300bhp cvh turbo that had loads of features in his mk2 fiesta,
standard ford headgasket should be up to the job, never failed on my zvh when i pumped 23psi through it.

Yah the head gasket is a bit of a dodgy one, it just blew under pressure, its fully mapped and doing 25PSI, but in this case the gasket couldn't handle it and now has done some damage to one of the bores etc......it looks as though i'm going to need some work done, like i said iv'e heard some great things about them so i'm happy about where the car is now as i don't think there is anywhere better lol.

Im having a better gasket fitted on when its ultimately re assembled, sounds to be a better overall gasket for the job at hand.

2 sides to every story. In his defence I have been in a situation (not with cars) where I was looking at court to recover a sum of money. It's additional outlay that can get more costly and you have no guarantee of being awarded a sum that would cover legal costs never mind recover the money. Then even when a favourable judgement is gained actually getting the cash from the other party can still be difficult.

He may well have decided to limit damage to his finances by not potentially losing more. As his claim was over £5k it wouldn't have been small claims.

Like I said though, 2 sides to a story. I don't know them and wasn't there so can't say who's the agreved party. These stories are about and if I was parting with my money I would want to know about it

Must confess, always heard good things about them before the Audi incident other than being slow sometimes due to how busy they are. Which seeing as this is the only horror story to appear from them in 8 years that I know about em.

I gave them my cylinder head (yb) for a refresh , supplied all the parts except 16 valves which FMS supplied .
The head needed re skimming again after the works adding even more expense to an originaly competetive quote. Nobody is perfect but trying to resolve issues with them got me nowhere to be fair ,in the end i cut my losses and moved on .

Stuff like the Audi would put me off... even if 50% of the story was biased/bullshit, that's still not what I want to hear about a place I was considering leaving my pride and joy to be worked on.

Hope the OP (if he sees this before getting re-banned ) has a better experience and his car is tip top after the work though.

Cheers,
Grant
