I used a small angle grinder with a knotted wire wheel on, flew it off in no time mate.

hot air gun or hairdryer and a scraper then thinners or petrol on a cloth to finish it off

angle grinder and wire wheel is one method, another is a heat gun with a scraper. i am doing this in a month and im using various wire brush ends on my drill and grinder. hope it helps
