just been on an american website and they make a bellhousing to fit the 4g63 evo engine on to a t56 which i believe is a 6speed out of a corvette and pretty similar to a t5 borg warner i know the input shaft is bigger and less splines.

T5 and T56 are nothing like each other. The only similarities are they both have "T5" in their name, and are rwd gearboxes lol

I use a T56.

Depending on bellhousing you may have to massage the tunnel with a hammer but the T56 goes in the Sierra shell.

It is bloody heavy though...

See, they are nothing alike.

The similarities are...

They both have T5 in the name
They both have 5 gears
They are both rwd
They are both made of metal
They both have a gearstick

Of course, the same can be said of any rwd stick in the box gearbox, so they are all similar.

But you'd need to pay close attention to the ratios available if fitting one to a 4cyl engine. The ratios are very tall, and far from ideal for a low powered/torque engine unless you run a very short diff.

If you are building a rwd saph, surely you would just be better off picking a supra engine instead ?

Cant really see the logic in picking an evo motor with all the hassle involved that an evo one has, I bet the sump will hit he cross member for example.

ND dry sump might clear that problem up but its not a cheap solution.

A yb is alot stronger engine to start with. Seems daft to start with a inferior engine.

Cant think of any. Ive a wild idea for a rwd sierra though. How about a Cossie engine and T5 ? Bound to be an easy fit ?

But other 4 cyl rwd turbo options.

Nissan 200 ?
Volvo 940 turbo etc

and for some reason, I cant think of many others lol

6cyl does open up more options

Nissan 300
Skyline
Supra

others ?

If you use a evo 7 onwards flywheel you can use a evo cover cossie plate ans the splines are the same

unless you want to keep it under 400bhp then buy a a forged 4g63 as standard engine unless a 8mr or a 9 the rods will pop out to say hello above 400 bhp

edited so the ford boxes should fit with correct bell housing

When you consider the cossie internals will take over 500bhp standard. it wasn't that funny a comment .

It was when you think that most of these engines are over 20 years old so if you want to actually run 500bhp on them the first thing you need to do really if you want it even vaguely reliable is to rebore it and buy new pistons for it anyway, at which point the difference in cost between rebuilding it and rebuilding an YB engine is only the price of a set of rods and the evo engine is dearer to begin with, and on the evo engine you dont need aftermarket cams or headwork to see 500bhp.

The only way a YB engine is really significantly better than an evo engine is if you want to stop a boat floating away with the tide.

But obviously in a Cosworth environment, ie a Sierra etc....Making an Evo engine fit would cost a few quid.

I dont think the OP has actually stated if this will even be in a Ford ?
