Default What would you get?

This is a question I have been pondering over for quite a while

Being a Ford man and only a ford man I want to get a ford

Im after a stylish, modern, luxury ( air con and leather seats) motor thats easy on the pocket for fuel, quick enough to not be embarrassing but cheap enough to insure, its an everyday drive and I already have a stripped out motor that I use atm and my ears are bleeding so will have all the trim fitted, plus my GF is moaning about the harsh ride, unable to hear each other talk ( for me that's not a problem lol)

What do people think??

I really really fancy A focus RS MK1 but insurance is a killer

I did think about getting a 1.6/1.8 Zetec focus and fitting the RS body kit, repainting it so it looks like one

Problem with this is I will look like a donut when people find out its not a real one???

Not really into fiesta's either

What do people think??

I also like the Cosworth Escorts but again cant afford a real one and I think again id look a donut when people find out its not real?

Although I love retro fords I don't fancy one as an everyday drive

Can I get a fake focus/escort sounding like the real thing or not??

Im fairly young so insurance is the issue

To add, the car doesn't need to have leather seats as that's something I can fit as I do like modifying

Also the quality of the interior ( as in cheapy plastics) isn't an issue as my mate will cover anything I want doing in flocking or leather so I will retrim the whole lot if it needs doing

I love my Fords mate and wanted to get one but when I went shopping there was nothing in Fords range that ticked my boxes. As a result I ended up buying an Audi and having done so despite me having a Ford for a toy I doubt I would have one for a daily now, it would have to be German

depends really on your person circumstances for the insurance rather than so much the car.

I have looked into the Focus St and the 220 and when I typed in quotes for an RS focus and a ST170 they came out pretty much the same 3k TPFT

I haven't however tried the ST220

I have a landrover as a toy so I cant afford to run 2 toys and daily drive my next car has got to be a daily drive until Im alot older and have lots of money

Ahhh, that's why you're screwed mate. Diesel Golf I reckon would be a good bet. At your age you are deemed a large risk in the eyes of the insurance companies, hence the quotes

Its not fair, why all us sensible drivers get tarred under the same brush as the donuts who drive like plebs

My Job involves alot of driving I do around 50 miles a day that's without driving to work which is around 20 miles round trip and everywhere else and I been driving for a year and a half

Ive had a few quotes on Focus 3door and it appears when I hit 21 I can insure a 1.6 for 1300 fully comp so I am thinking perhaps it will be worth getting a shitter and making my own perception of how a focus should be from the factory, RS bumpers and arch's, OZ wheels, recaro's and luxury interior in a gun metal grey on the outside

I could put up with commuting on a motorbike for another year or so whilst I build it

Hmmmmm

I have been rather obsessively looking into focus's, and how I would like to build one up, makes sense as I do have transport to get to work in my landrover and me bike so perhaps its the logical step to take, although I don't want to do that

Well I suppose I should start looking around for a lock up and a focus to start working on, got some pretty sweet idea's for it

Just got to sort out RS bumpers, arch's, side skirts and spoiler, a nice set of wheels, ST170 rear brakes, ST170 front lights, Set of retro recaro's, limo tint, ST170 suspension as it sits lower, dig out me double din touch screen radio.

Not to mention engine Mods when the times come and my insurance goes down lol

Will most likely go for the fibreglass arch's and bumpers, me and me dad are pretty clued up with fibre glassing so should get a good finish and panel gaps perfect

Buy an ST170 mate if you're going to do all that, they're cheap as chips to buy now. Insurance will almost certainly be less than a modified 1.6 or 1.8 that couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding

modern diesels can be chipped to give good power increases.and they generally dont sound like tanks anymore either.

It sounds like you should just get a focus rs, all the time and money to make a rep without the power or performance and even insurance etc. a real rs would retain value and save you money long term.

obviously im not advising insurance fraud but id guess the chances of getting caught out with a uprated chip in the event of a claim would be very slim .
