A wide variety of cars here then not to sure what a matiz is I'm guessing it's a shitter lol as I've never heard of one and don't think I can get a decent focus for the money do keep looking at mk4-5 fiesta but not sure what insurance is gonna be like compared with some other cars I'll also be keeping the cossie on the road that's £105 fully comp for me and the mrs I'm 26 with 5yrs ncb and she is 28 with 2yrs no claims thru admiral been with them 4yrs both have no points or claims so what would be the best way to insure a shitter as well as I've tried admiral multicar before and it wasn't any cheaper tbh

Lol @ Dan. I bought one last year for £200, genuine 2 owner 62k mile car, had very little rust on it and was in great condition. Cost nowt to run (over 200 mile to £20 even at todays prices) and drove really well. Didnt use it much once I stopped having to drive 60 mile a day to work and back so sold it on for the £200 I paid for it to a mate who took the engine out to put in an astra Eco4

many choices for small engined runarounds. a had a little peugeot 106 1.1 for a runaround, was surprisingly nippy about town and managed 80 on the motorway and generally about 45mpg ish.
nice little 1 owner from new , 47000 miles,FSH, every receipt since new for everything right down to new wiper blades etc ,little old lady neighbour owner.£500 with a years mot and 6 months tax. then i got it and it lasted about 6 weeks before it was written off.
result though was the insurance offered me £900 for it as a first offer since it was in such good condition.

£134 fully comp
£118 6 months tax
£45 MOT it passed just needing a rear bulb at £1.65
It's a 205 style diesel..70k from new... And the fuel economy is just brilliant... Had a good laff earlier in it... A lad pulled upto at side of me in a mk1 fiesta and started laughing so I wound the window down and showed him my screensaver of the 3dr and said this is my weekend toy ... He soon stopped laughing lol.
Cheap as chips to buy on eBay... Low maintenance... And cheap to service... But these are the very basic of cars... The only thing I wanted was a good heater and this has one.

Matt my dad had a 309 diesel years ago and my dad always thought the fuek gauge was faulty cause he hardly ever put fuel in. It was a cheaply built car though. It was a very reliable car too.It was a nightnare getting brakes for it though.

There's a load of cheapies over on retrorides.com,theres a td version of mats car for £600,there's a cracking 406 td for around the same,I even fancied it myself but got let down on my transit sale.
I had a 1.2 16v Corsa earlier this year and it didn't put a foot wrong, got me back and forth to Scotland from Wales about 12 times with no fuss, never put oil or water in it(after I changed a weeping rad lol!!).
There's tons of dirt cheap motors out there right now, great time to buy.

The motor factors told me it wasn't uncommon to see them with completely different calipers each side!!!
They always told me bring the pads in when changing them,I'm sure we had to file a notch in a set once as they were the nearest we could get!!!
Anglo/french build quality at it's best.
