what would win?
Xr4x4 2.8 vs mk4 rs2000 powered cabbie - both stock
bit of a pointless thread but would interesting to hear some thoughts on the matter,
ive got the xr4x4,
mates got the rs2000 with the xr3i gear box powered cabbie ( from my old rs2000 )
just say for example, a quarter of a mile race..what would win?
both about around 150bhp so fairly even power wise,
cabbie's a bit lighter than the sierra but i have 4x4 so better of the line im guessing?..

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
I believe they would be evenly matched at first, then the escort would gradually pull away. Having owned an XR4i and an RS2000, the escort is faster. And correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the 4i a bit quicker than the 4x4 ? Plus, a mk4 escort is surely lighter than the later escorts.

I would think the torque of the V6 would win the day over the 1/4. Escorts are shit off the line at the best of times.
Would imagine once rolling the cabby would start clawing it back but don't think it would make sufficient ground back in that distance

There would be very little in it IMO, in actual fact I believe the Escort may have the edge, the V6 in the XR are quite old lazy engines, that said due to the configuration it will have alot of low end torque which will be of an advantage!
On the downside, the XR is heavier and has double the driven wheels, so although the same power you have less due to transmission loss!
I seem to remember there being a 'cloud' over the power figure, apparently they have nearer 160HP, Ford diden't claim so as they diden't want the Capri to be outdone!
As the man himself would say, FIGHT!
