Default Turbo-techies: internal or externaly gated?

I've recently bought a turbo'd bike with an internally gated turbo.

Now the manifoldtubing is rather small in size so I was thinking about maybe doing a new one for it with a larger size bore and equal lenghts, does that generally make sense with a turbo-engine? As in: worth it?

If I'm at it I could also fit an external wastegate, what are the benefits of this?

Won't be running more than 21 psi if that makes any difference?

Also: the plenumvolume is quite small and I could quite easily double it, does this do anything worth while?

Cheers!

Its totally spec dependant, are the runners too small? Are you struggling with boost control?
