You might be able to get the intercooler out without removing the Rad but i didn't want to damage mine so removed it every time.

If that is the case Aaron, then they have made very good money whilst having the market to themselves. Competition is good in all industries, just so long as 'copies' are as good as or better than the original

Hi Daz, yh thats the thing most people dont understand if theres only one company and we keep buying at their price they will never reduce the £.. Now AS have come along produced a similar manifold for a cheaper price, Hart can either reduce there cost to the same or lower so people have an option or just deal with the fact they wont sell as many etc AS will rake it in bigtime, they are doing very well

Maybe the maker of the Hart one is supplying Airtec with them in bigger volumes at a better price and happy that they are getting the product to market through a distributor.

ive got a 70mm airtec Intercooler one from Steve - the one that was used to compare against the sooper dooper Spec R and the results werent that far off - defo not worth the extra expense imho - whereas im hoping the 100mm airtec will be better.

If you want a £2000 intercooler then there are cores twice as good. Their are mega cores out there in the refridgeration industry but too expensive. If the Airtec is cheaper it will have used a less efficient core because i know all the prices . Dont get involved in arguments you know nothing about Gav ive researched & seen the maths on loads of cores.

The annoying thing I think about this inlet is anyone with an original Hart plenhum like myself will struggle selling on here now for a good return if they decide to break a project up,
as the argument will be "well why pay £400-450 for a used plenhum when you can get a new one delivered from airtec for less... I see on the sale threads these hart inlets getting snapped up as soon as there posted, now this new inlets out it'll affect used prices I'm sure although people will stick by the more expensive option I do think alot will go for the cheaper

You only have to look at rs500 style intercoolers to get an idea. I spent £380 on a radtec. It was in the car for 10k and removed to replace for a larger spec r cooler. I struggled to get £80 as eBay is littered with cheaper copies of the 500 cooler for around £130-£160 new...

I've got no issue with airtec doing this as its been done so many times with other companies on other products.
And why not building a cosworth engine isnt cheap so discounted parts are always blessed. Just a little gutting when you hand over 500 notes and think I could have waited an extra 6 months..

Still we don't know there any good yet.. Atleast hart released some testing prior to mass selling

fucks sake, its competition - happens in every trade and is often a good thing as you dont want someone to hold a monopoly and thus charge whatever they want.

Also, with competition it gives more emphasis for people to improve the products further

ideally we need test results to see how good these new inlets and coolers will be.

I was impressed with their 70mm intercooler when tested against the sooper dooper spec r

What people dont seem to get is the thing with the spec r cooler is it keeps the charge air temp lower when the car is flat out over a period of time So the other one may flow the same but it dosent cool the same lol. As your charge air temp gos up you begin to lose bhp!. This dosent happen with the spec r one as the core design is so efficient thats why it costs more and thats why the likes of rod and ade have been able to do away with water injection because it cools the charge air so well it hardly gos above normal air temp even after being flat out down brunters on full thottle. As for the other inlet if its made from the same casting then it will be the same inlet lol but you would be pissed off if you was the owner of hart but then they may get a cut from the sale the the other ones!

This is the whole point regarding why the majority don't need spec R coolers is they don't run the cars hard enough, competition yes, road use I don't see the need, making other coolers more than up to the job

when i did 0-60 at ford fair in 2005 or 2006 on a hot sunny day, my forge rs500 style intercooler was hitting 60degree air charge temps in the queue waiting to get a run - lost plenty of power there as even i noticed it - other than that one time, i never had any issues though and that car was used on track several times

Well i have an m.a.d 500 set up in mine with water injection carnt remember what make intercooler as its been on the car for about 7 years now lol. But i have water injection controled by my sm4 ecu dont know what temp it fires at i never set it but on a hot day giving it loads the small L.E.D that shows the water injection is firing gos mad on full boost so the charge air must be getting hot!

Hot sunny day, what's one of them lol if you live in the warm south but not up here.

Still has to be tested now, I know some testing has been done against the spec R with positive results so should be interesting

That's heak soak though isn't it through being stationary and the intercooler being surrounded by hot air with no air flow to cool it.....no matter how efficient the spec r core is i wouldn't have thought it would make that much difference in that situation would it, as in act's wouldn't drop as soon as the car started a 0-60/qtr mile run (be good if it did though???) ???
