Default well the engine is out

some of you will of read my other thread regarding my focus and oiling up number 4 plug, well the engine is out and i removed number 4 rod and piston to have a look.

no damage to any of the rings at all, there is a few pit marks on the piston above the top ring

surely that in the picture isnt bad enough to of been causing my problem and the amount of oil ive been using lately?

If it is i presume ill need new pistons and rings?

Score marks on the bore that'll allow oil past the ring?

It won't be the turbo, it wouldn't cause the problem you were having on the plug.

Looks ok but that dont mean much I would be a little concerned about the pits as it would say some hard paticulates have got in , is the bore lipped at all ?

no lips on the bore but it does have some score marks? but there not deep although they are at the same place as the pit marks on the piston, but all 4 bores do have marks in the same place.

Doesn't take much depth in bored for oil to pass mate, think about how thin oil gets when its so hot and under pressure.

Tbh, is there no one localish that could come and look over/inspect everything for you as no offence but if you don't know what you're looking for things can often look 'ok'....you must be getting fed up with the car but everything's fixable you just need to know what actually needs doing and what's wrong instead of having to guess at everything
Hope it gets sorted as i love the car and is a great spec!!

the marks on all the bores is normal as they are the thrust faces ,but as said you will need a host of things checked and mesured best of fortune with it !

you need to get a bore mic in to check it's shape, need to check ring gaps, piston looks like the skirts might have some wear? which could mean bores oval...hard to tell from pic, need to check piston to bore clearance also.

something has to be wrong with that cylinder in one way shape or form!
