Hi
Im currently banned from driving (DR10). I now live in spain and get my license back soon so ive been looking at quotes. Do i still have to declare my dr10 when im now a resident here?
Thanks

ive no idea. id guess so since its relative to your risk. a foreigner with a drink driving is going to be hit hard id assume.
doesnt a dr10 stay on your licence for 11 years so theyll see it for a long time yet.

I don't think so. Years ago, I knew I was in for a ban, but also knew I was moving to Tenerife, so I got an international driving license before I lost my UK license (don't know if they do them anymore) and was able to drive there as I was only banned in the UK.

If you have a clean Spanish/International license, then I wouldn't declare fuck all to those robbing bastards.

If you have a UK license that has the endorsments printed on it, then I'm afraid there's no getting away with it... if you don't tell them then you'll get done for no insurance if found out.

Cheers,
Grant

Tbh i dont think id declare it anyway. Id be getting a car for sub 1000 and every car out here is battered, dont think many people bother out here.
Ive got a clean international license before the dr10.

I'm pretty sure an International License is only valid when you produce a valid UK one too

Incorrect. I no several people (French, Spanish, polish) who are banned in England for Dd but still allowed to drive in Europe.

how long ago was it? As u only have to declare it if the insurance company say have u had any convictions within x amount of years. It stays on your license for ten years but in the 11th year it is still on record just not on your license mate.

If your in spain get a little moped mate!

I does say on some insurance sites over here that you need to declare and convictions in the last 5 years. but im not sure if it still counts with me being a resident here now.
I got banned in 05/05/11 for 17 months but completed my drink driving course and it got cut to 13 months (get it back june 4th)
Would be great if i could get a car/moped out here as im biking 4miles (each way) to the nearest town for food!

Spoke to the DVLA and Spanish Advice Bureau and still no better.
Ive been told by the spanish advice that i can drive cause my license is european and i wont be driving in britain (were im banned) but i need my card back to drive over here cause the police over here have no way of checking my previous details in england. Need to now ring the dvla and hopefully get my card if possible then ring the another advice bureau over here to back it up.

Thats different though because they have an international extension to their french/spanish/polish license, and a ban only in the uk, ie they havent had their underlying driving priveledge revoked.
