hey people, am new to this site ,as this will be my first post lol, my gf has a fiesta mk4 1.3 and its got a funny problem with the heaters, when the car is stationary on tick over the heaters are hardly hot they only slight warm but still bit chilly, but when she drives a long the heaters work fine ?? just wonderign if anyone could shed any light on what this could be??
also shes got a weird problem every time the car goes into 4th? the car sort of judders and feels like its holding back? every other gear is ok apart from that?
the car has started a hunting noise when stationary like its starving for air once the car is revved and clutched it makes the hunting noise? jus twondered if that could be a problem in the 4th gear issue? also just wondered if anyone knows why it could be hunting for revs ? cheers Adam

I would say a dicky thermostat, look at the temperature gauge next time your out, if it reads low this will be your problem, I am assuming by this the blower is working?
I don't think it is, but the idle issue may be related, as the engine isn't getting up to it's optimum temperature, the ECU will be getting told so accordingly, therefore trying to raise the engine speed etc, I know the connector has also been known to 'get knocked off' the clutch pedal switch, but I am not sure if your model would have one, it may be the later models?
Could also be a sticking ISCV.
If it is the stat I would first replace this and see how you get on.

Heater problems are almost certain to be heater control valve. I imagine it's not opening all the way, but when the revs are higher the coolant flows enough to squeeze adequate water into the matrix. Super common failure on these.

heater control valve for the heating problems you'll find it on the bulk head, got a pic somewhere.
As for the hunting it could be the idle speed control valve (ISCV) or possibly look below the intake pipes at the front of the engine and you will see a T-piece with rubber pipes connected, make sure non of these are split as this would give the same symptoms.
