Buy it direct from Ross-tech.

Whats it for? If its just for general clearing fault codes, adaptations etc then get an ebay cable and the lite version of the software (think its £69 iirc)

If its for professional/business use, then buy one of the packages from ross-tech. They do plenty to suit your needs.

Just for general stuff, I saw it advertised on a website for £24 with Cable, sounded a bit cheap!?

Yeh thats obviously a pirated copy. I use a £12 ebay cable with a £69 copy of the software and its done everything I've ever asked of it.

Some of the pirated copies can be ok, but some of them are difficult to get working.

I just thought for £80 ish quid, it wasnt worth the hassle of messing around with dodgy copies

As above if its for older vehicles as this is what I have done.

If you want to do the newer vehicles though you need the lead with can-bus or something like that else you cannot read anything other than engine as I have just found out.

Latest version is VCDS-Lite 1.1

Another vote for Ross Tech, i bought the full cable and software from them, it was pricey at £270 but i have used it loads on various vehicles so far.

For resetting fault codes, an ebay cable and the free version of the software from the ross-tech site will work fine
