Default would a 1.25 zetec engine fit in a mk2 fiesta?

hi im thinking of purchasing a mk2 fiesta and the shell is solid but it has no engine because the current owner was going to put a turbo engine in it but has never got round to it.

i was just wondering if i would be able to drop a 1.25 zetec engine in to it ? as i am looking to buy a car for when im 17 and thought about a project on the fiesta so it would be ready and am looking to be cheap insurance wise and reliable.

it will go in but will need a fair bit of work, the most common zetec people fit is the silvertop out of an escort or mk1 mondeo. if only 17 i personally would get a standard engine and chuck that in. 999cc or whatever it is. insuring a car with an engine conversion at 17 is not a wise idea!

Might take a lot of buggering about because the inlet / exhaust are on the opposite sides of these engines so you might have difficulty mating things up. Just stick a standard one in there, then in a couple of years when insurance is a bit cheaper bang a zetec-e in there!

Ye agree with the above really, its doable but for the amount of hassle it ain't worth it. Just stick a 1.3cvh in it.
