Many people want to do 200 mph, doesnt mean it would or could happen.
1/4 mile at 150 mph in a little lightweight fiesta - 1900 lbs will take 500 hp to do that.

500 hp will never get a Fiesta to 200 mph.

If it has 750bhp then it may do it within the confines of Brunters if he chooses a longer straight then he can do it with less. Quarter mile ET dont mean a thing thats purely a grip/accleration thing. The 150mph terminal suggests it may have close to the 750bhp required, it would be good to see him try.

its not somthing he will ever try , think his power is a little over 600hp and built for drag so will be geared wrong, and his charge cooler set up would be no good for top speed stuff

just saying if someone wanted to do it they could.

paul j was only running 400hp when he pulled 179.8 so what would 200hp more do ??
your prob the best person to ask

probably not as much more as you'd hope! i think its probably quite shocking just how much more power you need, to go a little bit faster. escpecially in the confines of somewhere like an airfield.

It's a difficult one to call with it being front wheel drive. The best top speeds at Brunters are usually achieved from a standing start, and it would be very hard to get a 600bhp fwd car away cleanly enough to be able to get the power down to reach the speeds required. Even with a great launch, it's surprising how little extra top speed you'd gain with 200bhp.

tim butchers rst is no more,he now has a focus rs.
and ollies rst is set to go faster once they have sorted out sourcing the correct gearing for the mtx box.

If it does 180+ that will be quite a milestone!
difficult even with a Cosworth, let alone an rst.

I agree but i think Oli has the determination to do it. In a Cosworth 480bhp with correct gearing will achieve that. Suggest he will need that & more. I wish him well .

Rod, question for you too as per Crazycages...if I may?

If Sunny and Paul both pulled 178/179mph with 400 hp and im guessing a slight drop in accleration with the 4th - 5th change due to ratio.. would a 500hp 600hp Fiesta not pull the 200mph?

Intrigued to know what mine may acheive there.... im seeing a 134 terminal.

My Fiesta did 160mph (well 159.67) with 300 bhp at brunters with standard gear ratios. Fast Ford TOTB qualifying in 2007. 1.9cvh.

The lowest bhp ive known to pull 200mph at brunters was 640bhp in a Porsche they are mega aero. A Sapphire/Escort requires over 700bhp.
Remember a mega fast car like the AG Focus with 680bhp could not reach 200mph there even with aero aids. Once you hit the wall you simply dont get any faster .
Certainly Sunny had more than 400bhp & Paul claimed 460bhp i believe this is about the Power to do close to 180. Martins 626bhp managed 194.7 which is near optimum i suggest & very near to perfect. Martin found out how hard it was to find those extra 5mph .

I love threads like this. All this talk of speed, power and gearing. I also want to find info on this RS turbo that ran an 11, all I have seen is in a coulpe of the totb threads (pretty sur it appeard in a thread I started). All I know is its white, has a transverse mounted YB, is front wheel drive, and has about 550 at the wheels. Fair play to Karl for going for that power from a CVH. Mental!

Cheers Rod that pretty much highlights it all...

700hp Fiesta then.... i'll leave that to someone else to create.

paul told me his engine made 460hp@27psi on the dyno but it only ever ran 20psi in the car aprox 400hp.

christian ran 171mph with 350hp

He claims to hold the record, but the time wasn't set at Marham or using one of the MLR's calibrated Vbox's, so Ross Walker still holds the fastest officially-recognised time.

You'd have to be a complete mong to consider spending so much on a shit box RST to try and make it go that fast.

Best save the £££ and send the nail to the scrapper and buy a decent car instead.
