I say that because I've not had a go in many of the modern drivers cars, let alone the chance to get accustomed w/ features & characteristics on a comfortable level (obviously) & the raw mechanical feedback of older ones is almost more securing when taking risks or pushing limits...

Can imagine a GT3 or 430 is incredible for feedback but the implications are that much bigger!

Not saying one is more important than the other, but for people who haven't had a feel of what tech can really offers it can become a deciding factor.

Case in point for tech vs. mech... whether an Evo or the like can match and usually beat the performance, how can it still be as rewarding when it's fundamentally boring versus a mental drive.

Again no sides, just what was I getting at initially.

I'm driving the ultimate on friday. 997 GT3RS 4.0

New ones have lots of electronics and help.... and are supposed to be the better cars to drive.

So thats my point. Doesn't matter how they do it.

Its just how fun and how good they are to drive.

Just dont understand all this crap when people say 'oh the car was doing it all for me' 'was like a playstation'

Rubbish in my experience. You are just driving far within the cars limits.

Would the latest one be quicker without assists in the right hands? even driven just right are the assists needed to get the best from it? that's tech vs. mech in my (rose tinted) view.

When I reference a techy car I've definitely not got a GT3 in mind though! more a late Evo or similar.

Some could say Skylines fall in the Playstation slot, they get stupid stigmas on them, but I wouldn't, I think they're incredible whether there's electronics involved or not; though I know you didn't have the best time with your R34. I personally can't say outright, but a Skyline has to be more rewarding than an Evo, the 6 RS/TME/Ralliart their only exceptions on this basis.

I wouldn't go as far as saying it felt like that, but it was 'unrewarding', shall we say, to drive. I think half of the feeling I got from driving the GT3 was more of a "Fuck, what if I bin it" type thing which obviously heightened my senses somewhat, but it wasn't boring to drive like I found the Evo. I've driven two separate Subaru Impreza STi's, 1 V3 and a V5 and they were much the same, just a bit numb, and they don't have all the electronic aids like an Evo.

Know exactly how you mean, obviously still need to drive one first!, but can just imagine the feeling on the limit with that type of car, immense as they are.

205 1.6 gti , great power/ handling combo and exciting lift off understeer

Honda S2000 , great handling and amazing engine although not a great fan of 9000 revs, good power for n/a 2.0 tho

3dr cos with good power, koni front and coil over rear , seemed a very good combo for some reason......

My mate has a modified 3 and it's the tits! Much more raw than the later cars and, as you say, lighter and more nimble!

A few cars I didn't want to give back to owners. In no particular order.

Clio Williams
Elan S4
Cobra
Sunbeam Tiger
RS3100 Capri
Mk1 Lotus Cortina
De Tomaso Pantera
Ferrari Dino
Lightweight E Type
Aston Martin DB4GT
Maserati Bora
Dodge Hemi Charger

And every 60's Mustang I've ever come across.
