The 200mph is a good achievement, but to be honest anyone who wants/can afford to could beat it. It's simply a case of throwing money at the engine, and getting the gearing right.

In theory, with enough room, ye I'd say 200 was achivable, but you'd need a huge strech of tarmac. Also I have huge respect for your car Rod, but it won't hold the record forever. Out of interest, what about the Norewegan/Greek monster power cossies hitting? Quite a few of them are putting out 700+bhp power figures, I'm sure with the right gearing there could be a few more in the 200mph club.
you need the power available at any given speed to be more than the power needed to get through the air at that speed, and getting that all matched up perfectly is difficult and is why most cars will reach their terminal velocity well below their theoretical maximum and well below the point of peak power.

What Mark has done with rods car is awesome a heck of alot of development & i dont think anyone takes that away from him ! I only posted to get a rise out of rod which worked for a wise old owl he dosent half bite , although im sure he would have had a proper dickhead comment towards jim anyway. im sure if scs , nms to name a few had a customer serious enough to spend the money on a 200 mph cossie it would be done ! Its just the way rod keeps on about it that annoys some people including me but i couldnt care less if he beats his previous speed because is anyone even wanting to try beat it ? nobody else is that arsed.

I may be wrong about him and he may be the soundest guy ever in real life but, wether it's banter or not, he comes across as very narrow minded and arrogant imo.
Imo he would get a lot more respect and positive reaction to his achievements if he was to be a bit more positive about other peoples "lesser" cars instead of slagging them off for not having as much power as his.

just because maths says gearing can achieve a speed doesnt mean it ever will.
The likes of a Monaro, or my own car are geared to do close to 280mph in 6th.
I just doubt that will ever actually happen

according to the article that was posted about rainbirds saph (the one with the abs switch ) it did 172 with 365hp.
so for the extra 28mph we need double that power, as i remember rod and others saying 700hp minimum for 200mph ?
