Default Autowatch Alarm Probs :(

Hi,

My dad has an autowatch alarm and when he got to his car yesterday after locking the car with the alarm fob he couldnt unlock it. The little red light was coming on on the fob and he has had the fob tested today and it is transmitting a signal. He was able to open the door with the key then the alarm started going off so he turned the alarm off with this key under the bonnet and can use the car fine now without the alarm working.

Has anyone got any ideas why this could have happened or what he can do to fix it?

Any help really appreicated.

Thanks
Dan

Thanks for the reply. He hasn't got a spare fob but the AA checked his fob to see if it was transmitting a signal and it was working fine. Anyone got any other ideas? Is there a way to reset an alarm or anything?

Thanks

Bin it and start again mate. They are only a cheap effort of an alarm really. If the basic checks and remote battery change doesn't do anything then just rip it out...

Try removing the fuses and refitting after about 2 minutes. Try it afterwards and see what happens.

Thanks mate, I'll tell him to give it a try, would disconnecting the battery reset the alarm?

It might do (same as removing the fuses). I am pretty certain that it is fooked though.

You could try speaking to Base Systems in Preston (don't know the Autowatch dealer in Blackpool if there is one) and see if they can give you any pointers to go at...
