I need to add freon to my car but do not have a machine to measure freon I need to use guages and pressure readings I have a chart that shows correct pressures adjusting for outside temp and humidity but I need to know what will the guages show when the car is low on freon will the low side be too low and high be too low if it is low on freon and what will show if it is overcharged..

yes, normal. (assuming you mean -0.5, not -5!) it won't make positive boost until later in the rev range. (which presumably you saw when you put your foot down? if it stayed at -0.5 bar or didn't go above zero then walk away!

dump valve might be recirculating if you can't hear it.. either that or just quiet.

no idea what the other bloke's on abotu though!

No, what you saw was -5 VACUUM on idle.
