Default i need a kick up the arse to get me going again with a mk2 fiesta

last year i set myself a goal of building my first project.

but with the wife not behaving and her kicking me out it all went tits up and put on hold .

but now im back and ready to start the ball rolling again

the project will be a mk2 fiesta with a rst engine, not sure on frst or erst yet but i know people rather the fiesta lump due to the efi but the escort lump seems to be more available.and the other thing is having to fanny about with a fuel pump and swirl pot in the boot and so on.but first things first and thats getting a fiesta first.

that wont be until after xmas.i have got a shit load of ideas and what my finnished car will look like when its done but that's a long way off yet.

if anyone has any ideas, info, pics, links or anything that will help me shift my ass into gear it would help.

love you all

Andy

I would go mfi escort turbo first of all mate, you can always convert to efi afterwards. Depends on cash but I would be tempted to look at the new duratec cosworth engines if you fancy something different!
I have a 2.0L zetec in a mk2, wish I'd gone with a big cvh turbo build in the end.

it's been a lot of work to say the least, but it's got all it needs really, focus rs box, forged engine. get er finger out, they don't have to be expensive.

box is spot on, i find ratios a little too short, but 80mph is just shy of 4000rpm, plenty of revs to pull to about 160 and the diff is a league above rst viscous diff, pulls straight and true.
upto a BAR of boosrt now, and will continue to raise it after the 1k and another oil change happens.

i found that with the gearing i had to get rid of my 13" wheels because of it but yes the diff works very well bit snatchy on the launch but fine when you get goin

im running 28/29 psi backed down to 25psi. if i plant my foot in 3ed it will pull hard when coming on boost but then lights boath fround wheels

so im waiting for some new bits to tern up.

that and done a deal on a new turbo

how have you found your cosworth friction plate? they kept sliping on us

Cosworth plate slips when I turn up the boost, then I give it some stick and it's fine.
I think somehow it's not releasing fully, I'll be having box off soon and checking out over. Might be wear on cover aswell.
I had wheels breaking traction at 100 in fifth the other day as it came on boost, granted it was raining lol!
Just want to get the miles done and turn it up, the turbo is good for 450bhp on the 0.63 housing

bear in mind mark aka bomber has spent so much money you could have bought a sorted cossie for the same money. granted it's circa 370bhp on a zvh, but lot's of money and taken years to build.
stick to what you already have as a base, mk1's have smaller engine bays afterall.

start saving if you want big power though, then factor in a strong gearbox.
i reckon mine has set me back around 7k this year, it's easy for costs to spiral and i did 99% of the work myself.
