Absolutely gutted for you - i loved watching this get built up - it is such a shame. I hope you get a good price for the car from the insurance company
Gutted for you ,looking at the pic the door gap still looks fine ,that would repair ,tell your insurance straight away that you want a cash settlement and the car, also dont let it go to a compound, get it back home
dont let it go to a compound as if its a write off all the nice bits will dissapear in seconds and they will deny all knowledge. The industry is full of fucking theives.

The car is home with me mate, took it straight home.
Can i actually do what you have said? Like the sound of it.
You can demand it's repaired if it's not your fault but they'll try and opt out of it and say it can only be written off but your insurance can fight it and get it repaired or worst case get a solicitor.

Rick gutted for you mate but even i wont be able to polish that out, yeh it looks bad but im 95% sure that would fix just depends on how much you want to spend? Id buy it back and repair it over winter mate
as mentioned above you can refuse it being wrote off as it is such an easy repair to a competent bodyshop, my garage could turn around a repair like that in less than a week easy just demand it to be repaired or if all else fails buy it back and repair it as the damage is very minor compared to some of the things we have repaired
Just a quick update on the car it's with Jamie Rst who's been a diamond of a mate top top fella! Will keep the updates coming.
Another thanks to raj at autoflock for showing concern and going out his way to help, and also mo Rs turbo who offered me a front bumper and head light cheers mo I'll let you know what's happens.

It's called 'payment in lieu'. Basically the insurance company give you a wad of cash and wash their hands of it, and it's up to you to do what you want with the car and the cash.
I would imagine that would be classed as a Cat C as it looks like there 'could' be suspension damage, so to avoid the aggro of VIC checks and re MoTing it, I'd definitely consider payment in lieu if the offer is high enough.
And regarding the earlier point, no the insurers don't have to pay out to make the car perfect regardless of cost, they will only do so to the value of a comparable car.
This is the exact reason why I am even more aware when passing on-ramps and services.
When contact was made by the lorry it knocked me hard then I was all over the road and the arse flicked out hitting the central barrier of the motorway! Thought I was a gonna.
