Default Spec for a 300hp Zetec Turbo?

Hey guys, right im on my way to building my first Zetec Turbo engine

I have the following:

2.0 Silvertop Engine
Accralite 86mm Zetec Turbo Pistons
Fardon Rods
T3/T4 turbo (AR .50 Inlet AR .63 Exhaust)
Tubular Exhaust Manifold

Right. What other spec do you guys recommend? Rover Inlets seem to be the best way to go about having a decent manifold without the need for spending huge ammounts of money? Also what management do you recommend? I know ive got to get uprated valve springs as well. Whats the best and safest way to regulate the boost? I dont want to grenade my new engine out of the box!

Thanks guys

mines just a standard engine ,focus rs headgasket, double valve springs and omex management with the rover inlet doing 328bhp and aint blown up! lol try omex or cossie management or whatever your mapper is best at mapping bud..rover inlet are good but they aint accurate enough.. the first piston gets more air than the rest do because of how the inlet is. dont affect me by much because mines running too rich anyway

People seem to rave about Omex so that'd probably be the way to go, if MO's is actually real, then take note of his spec.

The 130PS high output inlet from the RS1800 or XR3i 130 would work fine at 300bhp as far as I'm aware. Saves faffing with the Rover inlet.

Management is entirely down to who you want to map the car. Most tuners will have their preferences, so depends on who you plan to use.

I dont actually know of any mappers around my area (South Wales) so id probaly have to trailer it somewhere to be honest.

Ill take a look at OMEX management and go from there, no one recommend Megasquirt?

RS2000 engine is totally different, so the port spacing is different!

some good friends of mine run similar spec to that and are using ms,

with that spec if you would struggle not to get 300+

great starting point with a set of valve springs

would of expected a bit more from that clarke is im honest, was the 304 on lower boost? pretty sure crazycage is around the 350bhp mark on under 2 bar??

I may be wrong though, gary and rick would the best to comment as they know a fair bit more than me

yup last run was 304 But Now running 28/29 psi havent had it back on the rollers yet

aslo gary is on a compleatly different turbo so no comparison to power/boost presure can be made. si cortina is making 330 @15psi atm

i don't know for sure on my power as i'm still running it in, but i have wiseco 86mm forged pistons on eagle rods, area six head with cams and valve springs (has run 25psi without issue before), T04B ceramic ball bearing super v trim turbo on a 0.63 housing good for 450-500bhp. arp where it's needed, H/O zetec inlet, siemens deka IV 630cc injectors. run on megasquirt II v3.0 ecu.

that's the basic spec, but should be healthy enough to pull over 400bhp at 2BAR.

the main problem is the gearbox, i run a FRS one with custom shafts and a combination of FRS and cosworth 6 paddle clutch setup, that does add to the bill somewhat, but will last longer than a bc/ib5 box will IMO.

Running mine on adaptronics. Silvertop lump with uprated internals, focus Rs inlet, focus Rs turbo plus manifold. It feels quick and its being run in at 12psi lol

Ill look into that too. Obviously my XR2 doesnt have an injection fuel tank so im going to run an external swirl pot. Im thinking its setup like this:

Tank - Red Top Facet Pump - Swirl Pot - Filter - Injection Pump (Undecided on what one yet) - Fuel Rail.

Then Reurn :

Fuel Rail - Swirl Pot?

dont even bother with the shitty ib5 on a zetec turbo

they produce too much torque for it even in a small spec engine

I've got an Omex ecu and loom for sale... Ł550 plus postage if your interested? Comes with a map for a 440 bhp zetec turbo which you can use as a base to start with...?

you may wish to consider a turbo swap as that will be one laggy turbo for 300 bhp! I had the exact same thing on my 2 litre high compression zvh turbo and it didnt really do much until 4000 rpm, and the physical lag on a downchange/corner exit was very long (a second or two!)

chaffe your right there it would be a bit laggy i use a t4 turbo you just got to keep the boost in and not let it come out the power band. in the bends aand roundabouts i jut jack gears and keep it in boost. i would recomend a stage 3 t3 turbo or a gt28

mtx75 would be best IMO, very good box.
as for turbo a t3/t4 on those A/R's will be a laggy thing, similar to my T04B, but i have a ceramic ball bearing cartridge inside and a super v trim comp wheel, so i get spooling beginning around 2200rpm, but 10psi by around 3500rpm and keeps wanting to go after that, really pulls hard.
have a go with it, may be a little over specified though for 300bhp.
