Default Pinto engine prices

Is it me or are these going for quite a large amount of money these days? Just had a look on ebay and their fetching pretty high prices, especially for a 205 block motor. I was looknig cause the first thing I want to do once I get a decent job (could be months and months) is buy a 4 door mk2 escort and fit a pinto, hardly original, but a combination I love.

A proper pinto is a lot of money. Personally I'd use another engine as you will get a lot more for your money.

Ye I know another engine would be better, but a pinto just looks "right" IMO, it'll probably never happen so no need to worry, I'm just dreaming.

Always suprises me that people are still so keen to use them, their not massively reliable and 200hp is mega bucks where as a duratec at 200hp for example is probably bulletproof and I'd imagine would cost a lot less.

Personally best value for money is the Vauxhall xe engine, 200hp with just tb's and mild cams and the core engine is a few hundred quid IF you ever grenade it.

Aye I know, but it pepends what you want to do qith the car, for example competition where perhaps you may not be permitted to use other engines, I think thats what drived the prices up. I'd want to use one for road rallying, where your not aloud to change the inlet/fuel system, but if you have an 8 valve engine you can change the carb system, they seem to have more potential that way.
