I Wouldnt Say That, A 1 Litre Saxo Is Slow, And As For Undesirable, I Disagree With That Aswel, I Think Its Actually Quite Desireable, But I Suppose Thats A Matter Of Opinion.

I like it. Looked around it at fordfair. Really clean shell, dunno why the engine don't sit straight in the bay?
Would like to do this conversion on a Orion if the right shell turned up. Would be a great daily. With alittle more effort fit the mtx75 box aswell

Hahaha, yeah ok...

Not sure how a 150bhp engine in a car that weighs sod all is going to be "slow".

MK2 Orion weighs approximately a tonne does it? So roughly 150bhp per tonne.

MK5 Golf GTI, 1328kg, 197bhp, so 148bhp per tonne.

Doesn't seem impossible that with some decent driving, the Orion could at least give it a headache, or even pull away if the Golf was slow off the mark.

I'd hardly call that slow

Same bhp per ton but the Golf is blown so will have a nice bit more torque.

I reckon it's pretty neat, not my preffered choice of transplant but definitely neat.

Reason the engine sits wonky is if it was installed square the bonnet wouldn't shut.

The engines need to be tilted on these shells so the timing chain clears the bonnet.

I know the bloke that built it and for those who think rs2k engines are slow it would definitely suprise you. Its not slow by any stretch of the imagination its VERY well put together. Engines cant sit straight either as corner of timing chain cover hits on the strut tower when they are.

Only went for Ł900 in the end which is a shame as its well put together, looks good and goes like stink. Always suprised at the attention it gets at shows!

Decent motor, always makes me chuckle how people can go nuts for a Mk4 Escrot but don't like Orions. Weighing in at abour 960kg, 150bhp should be a laugh

Don't like Orions.

Why waste your time in this thread?

Ł900 quid was very cheap IMO, must have been desperate to sell.

A lot of people seem to be driving onions. Suppose you can pick them up quite cheap - 3 for a quid. I'd imagine you'd need custom mounts to fix the onion to the engine. And some heat wrap to stop it from cooking
