The describing word "Mint" Your opinions Please.
I'm sure all people on here have either bought or sold a car.
But how do you honestly describe yours.
I'm helping a friend look for a MK2 GTI Golf and we have been to look at 7 all described as Mint.
Well the only mint I could think of while looking at any of them in bloody Polos. Full of holes.
Seriously why do so many people say yeah its in MINT condition and its a complete nudger.

personally I walk away from the phone if someone's describing their car as MINT.. apart from a very few situations, involving some very special cars, the description is not applicable IMO..

mint should be banned from the english dictionary!
peoples definition is very very orscured sometimes!
the word mint should be taken with a pinch of salt, although as tiff has said, ian 3dr, and similiar concourse cars can actually fit this term.

Mint comes from the Royal Mint, the people who make coins. A penny can only be described as mint, if in a condition as it came out of the Royal Mint. A 2p with a fingerprint on it is no longer mint.

mines mint, but like people have said it only applies to concours condition cars. therefore stonechips all over the bonnet/bumper, 'spot' of rust , slight bolster wear etc definitely do not count as mint.
if you hear the phrase ' wot do you expect from a car of this age ' or ' mint condition for year/age' then it's pretty safe to say it's not gonna be mint. take fiesta turbo's for example, i have seen a few so called mint cars but they have the usual rusty filler cap, if you question it's 'mintness' the owner usually says they all do that. luckily mine was as described cos there's nothing worse than driving miles to see a rotter!!!
trouble is people just want rid so always talk it up, when in reality honesty usually is the best policy.

Mint - No blemishes. Good as new condition
One of my pet hates when folks describe fookin rotters as mint. You've no idea how many 'mint' RS1600i's I saw before I bought my old one a few years back

If I ever see a car advertised as mint then its a total waste of time even phoning. Have a look on the RSOC forum then you will see my S2 for sale as 'very tidy' and it is far better than half the cars wht are apperantly mint condition

Not fuckin half Ian his car is awesome
getting back to the original question, I think that the word 'mint' should and can only be for concourse cars like your's and the others. there are way to many idiots out there who are trying to pass off shit, as so called top cars and its really starting to do my head in

cossiemen You have to scroll down and just click on the link "Free". Then scroll down again there you see "wait for ... seconds". When thats finished, you can download the vid..
That's the downside for free uploading

Lee, speak to Steve200+ off here. If I'm thinking of the right steve, he works at a VW garage where they get a lot of nice mk2's in from what I understand.
