Spark plug electrodes burned out?

Spark plug electrodes burned out?
I pulled my 6,000 mile old Bosch spark plugs out because the car was misfiring under load to find the electrodes thin and quite short. They are very sooty and black too 
Not my car pinks quite abit under 2000rpm and I'm wondering if this is why?
I've fitted some NGK iridium plugs and I think I'm going to have to go back to Super Unleaded
Can anyone shed some slight on the situation?
