Ive got a quaife sequential in my escort, and im looking into fitting a flatshift system to it.

Now, i have seen that my emerald ecu supports flat shift, and needs a switched earth input to activate it between gear changes.

question i have is, what options do i have for this switched input? iv'e seen load cells, but not sure if they send an earth, or a variable voltage like a TPS?

Any info would be great as im well confused.

Speak to Dave Walker from Emerald. He will be better placed to advise than anyone.

And shifting method may depend on the box itself and how it works. Some may kill for a set time, for duration of clutch press or other methods.

tried emeralds today but didnt seem too helpful and didnt really know what i was on about?

Sadly a lot of features on the Emerald were crap, or were never actually finished, that was certainly the case when a friend of mine got one and we spoke to mr Walker about all these great features.

I have googled it for you and it didn't come back with much, I'd probably start saving for the Geartronics setup.

Start charging for passenger laps, I'll chuck some money your way for that !

The K6 will do it, I am working through mine atm on a normal box. There are two types norm and seq I only read the part about mine and fitted the clutch switch and enabled it and a map is in there for time delay rpm and ign. Even a different setting for each gear, worked out off the wheel speed.

just had this from geartronics....

"Hello Mike,

If you use my flatshift ECU then you don't need any switches or load cells. The ECU can detect the start of the shift by reading the existing gear position sensor - it looks for the first few degrees of movement. Once the cut has been started, it continually reads the sensor to determine when the next gear has been engaged and therefore safe to resume engine power. It will interface to the Emerald K3 and K6 ECU's but not the early one from what I can gather.

The ECU is Ł195 and you will also require a replacement sensor at Ł70 - both plus carriage & VAT."

Just printed these off and took a pic with my phone sorry, it's all in there mate I can't see why it won't work with a couple of micro switches. I would give it a go save some cash? Less things to go wrong too
