I heard today theres a limit of how many cars you can sell in a year before you have to declare yourself as a trader. Done a bit of research but can't seem to find anything concrete, some say five a year while others say six in a twelve month period. Some say dvla will notify tax man, others say no-one will notice unless you're doing hundreds a year.

Any views?

depends were you are selling them and wether you are putting the money in the bank or not
i am a trader and never fill in the logbook, i fill the trade section in and give it to the owner to do with as they please then keep the whole logbook as if i were to fill it in normally not only does it add an extra keeper its also difficult for me if i sell it within a couple of days which i usually do because i would have to keep hold of car for a couple of weeks till the logbook came through

all depends how you want to deal with it, if it's a business then you should declare it and pay tax on the profit, does depend on how much you declare though.

it used to be 6 per tax year i thought, that's assuming you put them in your name. It may have changed now and i'm not 100% certain that's correct anyway.

i dont register them in my name and only deal in cash, that way you can do as many as you like
