Default DMF on new model Mondeo?

At the moment I am the owner of a TDCI Mondeo and am thinking of buying a new model in the near future.
I am aware of the problems with the DMF and clutch and wondered if Ford have done anything to rectify this also the crankshaft pulley rattle.
Anyone know if these were modified in later models?

Many new cars (especially diesels) have DMFs now. It's not a 'fault' with the car, it's just a very expensive servicable part!

It's DPFs that I'd worry about on new cars.

I have a dpf on my focus estate, it brokedown in feb, had the fluid redone and a regen, now the dam thing has given up completely and ford want 510+ vat for the dpf/cat then further costs to fit, regen etc ... the bill totals over Ł1200,,, the car only cost 4k!!!! so definately never buying a car with a dpf on again.

Wish i could just bypass it and trick the computer becasue the car being in limp mode is a nightmare. no turbo or power, only revs to 3k!! sooooo sloooooww.

buy a 2.0 or 2.2 tdci.

All the ones with dmf failure i've seen on new shape mondeo have been the 1800 lump.

Bottom pulley issues are sorted as the new shape mondy don't use the old engine!

If and when i get a Diesel with the DPF i will have it removed and get Stu to remap the car and sort the DPF side of the ECU out.....

the dpf "collects" soot when you are in town doing little revs and then "releasing the crap" when you are gunning it along the mtoorways and A roads

so as long as you give it beans (we have been told by vauxhall to give our vans at least a 30 second thrash in 2nd once a day to clear out their dpf's) regularly it shoudln't be an issue

if you drive it like a taxi driver though, you'll be fucked

as for mac 247, i would probably expect one of the ford technicians to go out and give it a good ragging and clear it out as that's what the vx techs do

Out of curiosity is the Jag x type derv, the same as the mondeo derv and just as, if not more expensive replace injectors, dpf, dmf's?

I'm under the impression that Jag, Volvo, Peugeot, Citroen and Ford all use the same 2.0 TDCi engine? Correct?
