Default Mk3 Escort

Right, Im buying a 1.3 mk3 Escort to smoke around in as a daily, 21k genuine miles!
Anyway, Im thinking of sticking an rs turbo lump in for a giggle, what's the limit of the standard components? And what sort of power can I be had with a few mods, i'd be happy with 180-200bhp
Thanks

Ben.

Standard bits will cope with that power all day long. Go for it

how old are you? have you passed your test?

Have you found out about insurance on the 1.3 and then asked them how much for a rst lump in there?

After that call i dont think you will be modifying it

Awesome, would I need to change any parts to get it around there?

If its an EFi fiesta turbo motor, you'll need the rad and cooler off and escort rst, a set of beige injectors, chip and actuator for 195 if memory serves me correct. A bit more if you use an escort T3 turbo too.
If you use an MFi motor from an escort then you'll need a chip and actuator and weekly setups

So ideally I could do with finding an EFI escort then!
Does the 1.3 use the same loom as It's CVH too?

You are better off buying a rotten FRST and swapping all the bits over.

You will need

Beige Injectors
Decent cone filter
195 Chip
larger diameter exhaust
Bigger intercooler and Erst Rad
Idealy a T3 Turbo with -31 Actuator

If you strap all that to a healthy FRST engine you shoud see between 180-190 BHP

Good stuff! Are you heading in a sleeper direction?
Saw a mint onion down the road from me monday and thought of you, it was seriously tidy not a mark or rust bubble in sight!

If it was me with the mk3 i'd just style it up, slam it and keep it clean with subtle mods then throw the rest at the fez zetec.

Yes mate, might keep it on the steels, or stick some rs 7 spokes.

What colour was it? I've seen a mint red Ghia around recently.

Red, reckon it was an F plate on 1600e alloys or similiar.

Those rs rims you've got will suit the mk3 if its properly low.

Like that a lot mate, I'll get some pictures of it tomorrow, I think it needs a bit of a repair to the near-side door, could be a bastard to match paint that old
