Apparently the fuel pump has gone tits up in her focus (101k, so not done too bad as they are known for failing about 56k?)
Anyone done one, i know the tank has to be dropped, no major issue is it?
Any short cuts apart from cutting an access hole under the rear seat which i don't want to do!

Cheers Guys,
All done and sorted now, wouldn't have taken very long if the new assembly worked properly! Turns out the fuel sender was duff on it, so had to make 1 good one from 2 bad ones.
James,
Apparently if you let them run low on fuel often, i.e below 1/4 of a tank, the pump overheats and causes failure. This is what had happened to hers, and it took the wiring for the pump with it!

never heard of that before and i've had 2 (1.8 and current 2l) both with over 100k and both got/get left till the light is on to fill up. must have done a combined 120k+ like that!
only focus i know of that has fuel pump issues is the st170 as that cracks and draws in air under 1/4 tank
still, glad you got it sorted
