4x4 sump help asap please:-(
had to take the head off today, as the gasket blew when it was setup at ma developments on saturday , when it came to undoing the bolt on the back corner (turbo side) the bloody torx bit fell out of it's holder and dropped into the hole next to the bolt and ended up in the sump, now im thinking i maybe screwed. its on a 4x4 cos, and i now from past engine probs that everything has to come off just to get the sump off, the engine is coming out after ford fair for rebuild and the car is having a respray, so i cant be arsed to take the bloody thing out twice in a short space of time, will the torx bit be alright???? or will i mangle the engine. advice would be received very gratefully.

took the sump off my old 4x4 cos, and found the very bottom of a dipstick in there!
god knows how many years that had been in there, or how it came to snap off in the first place

it cant get sucked into the oilpump itself because it will be too big to get past the strainer but i wouldnt want something of that size in my engine as there is every chance it could partially block the strainer
to be fair if you allready have the head off its not a big job to just lift the block a bit to drop the sump down

i thought it maybe allright as long as it hasnt fell onto the baffle plate. surley theres noway of it getting caught up amongst the big ends. its quite weighty aswell so i would of thought it would just stay at the bottom of the sump. i doubt even the pick would suck it up...... if you have noticed im trying to make excuses so that i dont have to drop the entire engine.
