ntl broadband speed changes.
Saturday, January 22, 2005 by Mick Ramsden
We announced that ntl have plans to change and introduce more speed changes. Ntl have now confirmed that broadband speeds are to be increased to 1MB, 2MB and 3MB at existing prices. The new speeds are expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2005.
Simon Duffy, chief executive of ntl has stated:-
“To retain our leadership position in broadband, we will be increasing our ntl:home products in Q1 2005 to 1MB, 2MB & 3MB at existing prices this decision reflects our determination to ensure that we will always have the most competitive range of broadband products in the market place.”
Speeds are to be increased significantly, whilst remaining at the same prices. Also note the bandwidth caps that apply to each speed in brackets.
300K 1MB – Ł17.99. (5GB monthly usage allowance)
750K 2MB – Ł24.99. (30GB monthly usage allowance)
1.5MB 3MB – Ł37.99. (40GB monthly usage allowance)
These speeds will be rolled out to new customers in first quarter of 2005. Existing customers can upgrade to these new speeds by paying a Ł25 administration fee.
Latest Update We have received information (unofficial) from a reliable source that the following upload speeds will probably be applied to the new speed upgrades.
1MB = 100K
2MB = 200K
3MB = 300K
Please note that as of yet these are unconfirmed.

mt gf works for ntl and she says that
300K 1MB – Ł17.99. (30GB monthly usage allowance)
750K 2MB – Ł24.99. (1GB daily usage allowance)
1.5MB 3MB – Ł37.99. (1GB daily usage allowance)
this is all going to be affective as of the middle of march ,
if you have broadband through set top box then you will need to call ntl and ask then to regarde your speed (free) if you get your broadband through a cable modem then it will automatically upgrade itself
