checking an engine over??

Default checking an engine over??

Hi any one give me bit of advice whats best to look at when goin to check over a CVH RST engine which has been removed from a car.

only got the guys word on condition but apart from lookin at oil cap and dipsick and gaskets etc should i been checkin out else?

you can never be 100%, check for leaks and if you coudl crank it over but bolting a starter on (via a box) to do a compression test thats good but unless you pull it to bits its a chance you take
