Default Driving ban + What Ford to get

Hey people, just a lil question ..

Im coming off my driving ban on 23rd of November and i need to start saving for a car, obviously gonna be a Ford, i cant stray away from the Blue Oval

What Ford would be relatively cheap to insure?

E.g, 1.3 escort/1.1 fiesta mk3/ fez si, for a 21 year old...obviously an RSt is wayyy out the picture for me atm.

Also, iv been told 2 different things to do with the ban-

1. If i have so many points, i cant apply for a provisional ?
2. When i come off the ban, the points should be gone but a ban will be on my record?

Am i listening to idiots, or is it all true ?

All help will be appreciated..

I miss my Fords ..

it will be near impossible to tell how much you would get charged for any of those cars, you need to ring round a few insurers yourself!

Generally you won't have any points when you come off the ban, but the ban will be on your license for the same number of years (on for 4, active for 3, unless it's a drink or drugs related incident)

There are exceptions to the rule, but if you got banned for totting up, then no, you won't have points on your license - not that will make your insurance any cheaper, as you'll have a ban on there intead!

Na, its not drink or drug related, it was taking of my stepdads car, so twoc i guess.. wasnt like i had him at knifepoint demandin keys or anything dumb like that, even tho thats dumb in itself..

i think i have 22 points NOT GOOD i was such a prick back then .. i think its goin to have to be 1.1 fiesta, just couldnt bring myself to purchase a Ka.. id never live it down lol.

so is a ban on record as bad, or worse than having all them poiints.. and being 21 isnt insurance a little bit cheaper? not much but iv heard it goes down a bit..

some companies i was asking around for for myself and the wife were quoting over £600 a year and i've got 10 years no claims and the mrs has 1 years worth of expirience so it's not as cheap as you might have thought

insurance is pretty much a joke.

we have all our insurance with one company, house/cars/contents, everything insured with this company, my parents get some kind of discount so would it be possible to get a cheap price with the discount taking into account the ban on record, or would that not really do me any favours.. ?

Ka is probably cheaper to insure than a fiesta, there not to bad to drive at all, can't think of a cheaper ford, maybe if you get a classic? Like an anglia? (just watch out for Harry Potter fans).

Oh yeah, i forgot about them, cheers

I take it it would be better if i phoned them rather than an internet quote..
Because the Footman James website is telling me i have to be 25,..

Hmmm.. pretty annoyed with myself now, i REALLY want an S2 man ..lol

Would a mk5 escort with a 1.4 cvh be classed as a classic ?

they told me it had to be atleast 15 years old and you had to be a member of an enthusiast club relating to the vehicle concerned

You can properly kiss goodbye to any 'cheap' insurance mate. No matter what car you go for it will be very expensive.

I know, if i could make that ban dissapear i would.. but i cant so gotta deal with what iv got now.

But iv just got a little quote for a mk5 Escort 1.4 cvh, £2,600 (i consider that cheap compared to my 19 y/o friends quotes) off a random website, so i could probably get it cheaper if it was with my parents company as i get the discount surely?

Not bad considering all my previous quotes had been at the 6/7k mark
