Anyone know much about the 1.8 duratec engine in a focus?
Basicly........... My mum brought a 2006 Ford Focus brand new. Since she took delivery of it, its never been right, and has been back to Ford over 6 times during the warrentte period to witch they just mess about and said they dont really know whats wrong with it and can't fix it.
The fault is...... When you go to pull away the engine "blips" almost like you've let the clutch up too fast. It jolts about and can sometime be a pig to pull away with. Its also super super easy to stall. Once the cars moving it drives fine, It doesnt missfire at any point. If you hold the throttle flat out in 3rd gear from about 3000rpm, as the rpm climbs you can feel the power dropping in and out. Its not a smooth pull. It pulls well for 500rpm then goes flat the starts to pull again.
This fault has been with the car from brand new. Just before the warrentte expired we left it with them for 10days, to witch they agreed there was a fault with it but they just couldn't find it. They changed the clutch pedel switch and the coils but its still the same. Now the warrenttes out she wants me to fix it. There are no fault codes stored in the ecu and nothing looks out of place on the live data readouts. I belive Ford installed the latest firmware last time it was in there.
Has anyone got any ideas?
Cheers

maybe a stupid answer, but i bought a 2004 focus, and the problem was a slack connector to the battery, which made the power cut out, just an idea probably im going down the wrong line
