Hey guys, lookin to start smartly mod my focus 1600, but i dont know where to start performance wise, it will be my first time im willin to throw alot of money into a car as the last few i have had i just used as runabouts. thanks

its a 1600 so never going to be massivly quick , best bet is to read other peoples focus threads and see what direction thay have gone, suspension mods brake upgrades nice set of alloys, st170 hlights ...

Fitting a 2.0l Zetec would be a good starting point along with its matching ECU etc?

i got nice wheels on it already and i was thinkin about the st170/225 route, or even trying to turbo the 1.6, not many done and all that, just make it a little different from everything else. i suggested this to a guy i used for a body repair on my last focus and he told me to put some bike carbs onto the engine as it is, but i need it just as reliable as it is now and it cant really be that healthy becaus they don't really like lateral G forces, or am i wrong?

with carbs it might be hard for you to get it through the mot missions?
