I guess that we'll have to ensure that what is written, conveys in the WAY it is written, just what we're about.

right, just had another look and a lot of the crap has been removed, its starting to now look very nice.

its a lot better with the sections so people can choose if they want to go straight to the info they require or to have a browse around
you do have to remember when most people buy stuff off the internet they already know what they want, they just want to go to the item click on it ,buy it and have it delivered as soon possible.
I found that most customers had already spoke to me on the phone, then once they decided( usually fri,sat night 2330ish after closing) the orders came roaring in

my opinion anyway

That would mean SQL plus secure server though, wouldn't it?
I'm not sure that I want that. I would rather be certain that someone is ordering the RIGHT thing for them.
We don't currently have a returns policy, because we've never needed one!

I'd agree with Bernie on that one - online shopping's alright for off-the-shelf parts, but as soon as you wander into the world of custom kit like transmission, imvho it's better to speak to the pros and work out what you want/need.

Plus, since most people tend to skim through websites, there's a fair chance some people will order the "wrong" thing and then it's a whole world of "can I change my order" fun...

If Bernie changes his mind it's not a hard one to add on at a later date though.... wtf, there's a bloody ice cream van parked up outside my window, IN THE WINTER, giving work's 140K sound system a run for it's money!

Must go - I wanna whippy...

Now re-reading it today its mainly written for motorsport applications. plus supply to companys and race teams.

If I was Jonny boy racer and wanted a gearbox rebuild I would see that and think 'they will be expensive', and go find someone else so I can understand what your thinking Bernie...

Tell me what you do, and what you specialise in, not who you supply to. Give me some examples to look at by all means, and experiences overcome and Im more likely to pick up the phone

Its all just my opinion tho, offered to help or hinder, as I know what you do, who you are, and how little you charge so ignore it if you want.

Just one more point from the homepage, are we clients or customers ?

I may have solved my urgent problem today btw, but the other thing you mentioned sounds interesting

Nothing you say Tony, (or anyone else for that matter) is ignored.
Both myself and Alex are reading all this intently (well I am, Alex is a student, so is probably doing drugs/on a protest march/etc )
At the price Alex has suggested, I'd be fookin mad not to go with this new layout, and for sure there is going to be some good dialogue as to content.

Alex, top man

Re Johnny boy racer, reckon something like the new advert (cobbled together a bit so it could probably be improved on by a fair amount) might help at all?

By the way, it looks like you've unwittingly become one of Bernie's web testers! I'd offer to buy you a McBeer but isn't that bribery...?!

/al

edit: oit, you cheeky gits! I'll have you know I'm not eating pot noodles on a protest march under the influence of drugs - I'm contributing to society by... I'm... uhhm... watching Simpsons with a cuppatee

Well, I'm off for a kip now, so unless I do web-editing in my sleep (apparently I *do* do some strange things, but I dunno about geeky stuff...) I'll not be up to much for a while!

That new little centre box does help alex It brings it back into realiity a bit now, even more so if it said something like 'road' 'track' and 'competition' to back up the statement in the top banner. So far its just themed around Ford stuff, and I might not have a Ford tho' something to think about

Its easy to pass comments on a website, but finding fault with their work is nearly impossible

Mind you, unless you're a Ford tech-head, which I don't reckon most viewers would be (especially if they don't own a Ford), the only real mention of a Ford-specific thingy on there is the ERST box.

I'll add in plenty of stuff so Bernie can select three of his favourite links to put in there - could have an FAQ link, a new product, and a link to a tech info guide on strengthening services, for example, and that's all stuff that either I'll think of as I put it together, or someone will suggest goes in.

Keep the ideas coming!
