Default Toyo R1R's, any good?

I need to replace my worn Toyo R888's, are Toyo R1Rs a good equivalent replacment for track use or should I bite the bullet and stump up for 4 R888's?

I was in a 2wd saff a little while back and could not light them up at all, even 1st gear was pretty well fine

So all I can say is good grip when warm but I don't know how they react to track use unfortunately!

I use them on my Sapph, pretty good tyre. I usually go through 2 or 3 pairs of rears to one pair of fronts, I do like to play sideways a bit though

I use them as well Steve, a lot less noisy than 888s but the sidewalls are nice and stiff and they don't seem to go "soggy" like some road tyres do after a bit of spirited driving

Primarily designed as a wet weather intermediate tyre, they are great for fast road/wet track action. However, use them on a warm track day and they won’t last! So if the R888s have done the job, pay the extra and keep what you know.
