Default How much for a bonnet respray?

firstly i am right in thinking an S1 bonnet will fit a poverty spec mk3 right? i want a bit more ventilation coming into my engine bay and most bonnet vents look a bit tacky...

but yeah my thoughts are just buy an S1 bonnet and get it re-sprayed in champagne gold... any ideas how much it should cost?

£100 is well cheap, paint is so expensive these days, I would expect to pay £200-£250

indeed... good having friends in the trade but to be honest i could spray the vents myself to a very good quality... i'm just not keen on large flat panels without a compressor and gun

S1 bonnet is the same as a standard bonnet bud e.g. no vents!

A lot would depend on color ?, I know the paint cost alone is £70 for doing my 4b bonnet in the best color ever though, Mercury Grey!!
With the newer water based paints much much more paint needs to be applied than with older 2 packs/cellulose etc.

No vents in an S1 bonnet mate, and an S2 wont fit as it is a mk4 item.

Get some pics up of your motor, is it the one in the avtar?

mate to be honest if you can get your hands on a compressor and a spray gun just give it a go! thats exactly what i did with my escort. the majority of the work is in the preparation, just read up on here how people went about respraying their cars.. theres alot of valuable info on this forum. if not just call up local companys- use yell.com or something similiar to see whats available in your area, give them a call tomorrow and get a quote!

i thought that with the old celly you had to use about 7 coats as it needed so much flatting after, modern paints only get a couple of coats dont they?????

within 10 min of putting this up i had a couple of thoughts... 1. an S1 bonnet doesn't have vents (embarrassing) 2. i bought some bonnet raiser's

yeaa that is car i put up a project thread a while ago with pictures from when i bought it but i've made quite alot of changes

i'm confident painting to be honest, having a couple of mishaps on my moped developed those skills and i founf that if i use alot of 2000 grade sandpaper you can get a great fiinish it just takes a while haha

the reason for wanting s2 turbo vents was because i thought i had a brilliant idea of cutting out the rear half of the slats and butchering a NACA duct to create a cold air feed with some fibreglass (1 vent for each carb) then run some ducting down the back of the bonnet

Cheers Man it's just starting at the moment... it's going to be stripped out and it's going to be as quick as possible but i'm trying to solve the main issue with track car's, they're messy and loud i want mine to be squeaky clean, no rust, nothing untidy and it's going to have a big enough stereo to make up for the stripped out interior (just trying to make it bland colours and things so it's a bit more subtle

Nice more bullshit
With in house paint system it works out at 15 quid a litre to have company make it it's 25 and if prep is good u only need half litre to do a bonnet so unless it cost £100.00 to run the booth to dry the bonnet

Check google again

Carry on watching day time tv
