Peugeot 406 non starter, strange one! Help please!
As above, my 406 2.0l Petrol, Automatic won't start. Last time I used the car was tuesday briefly to move it to a different parking space. When key in ignition all lights come on and all seems normall, go to crank engine and it just wont fire. Fuel level is fine, Checked fuse for fuel pump- ok, checked inertia switch - ok. I don't get it as it was fine just 2 days ago. Tried jump starting also but no luck. Ideas please??!! Very frustrating!

If you started the car very briefly to move it from one spot to another, there's a high chance the engine may be flooded with fuel.
Have you got everything needed for it to run ie: spark, injector pulse and fuel pump working? If so, it'll probably be flooded.
A couple of ways I get them running again is to crank the engine over with the throttle wide open to allow more air in during cranking. A lot of the time it'll eventually fire.
On really stubborn ones, I have had to remove the plugs, clean them, squirt a small amount (and I mean small) of engine oil down the bore to raise the compression back up and refit the plugs. It should eventually fire.
Also check the fuel pump is running while cranking, if not give the fuel tank a bang on the underside during cranking as I have had them stick on these in the past.
Sounds to me like it's flooded though tbh.

You need to be looking for ignition faults as well as no fuel problems. Does it have a traditional coil or coil packs for each plug? Does it use a dizzy or is it electronic ignition (poss TDC sensor problem).
I am not much help to you really, sorry, but at least you have a few more things to check out. I feel it more to be electrical just from experience with sudden issues like this.
Hope someone else can help you out better - good luck
edit - posted same tikme as above entry - some good points there mate

Without sounding sarcastic, is the car in NEUTRAL or PARK, as the inhibitor switch will prevent it from starting in "gear".
I say this as it was a french car, but can't remember the make/model, was about 25 years ago that didn't inhibit the starter but ecu to prevent starting in "gear", only ever come across that once, but it still confuses me.

Try spraying some deodorant into the airbox while cranking,if it's fuel it should try to start,if not id guess your looking more down the ignition route, and at a very quick guess id say crank sensor but again I'm totally guessing on that front, although it very often is the first point of failure on cars.
The airbox/air intake is usually pretty easy to get at,I'd say try removing the pipe from the airbox end and squirting towards the air flow meter end but I found my motorbike started by just spraying it into the main airbox.
