i phone help please

hi im trying to update iphone 3g for a friend its on 2.2.1 at the min when i connect it to itunes i says timed out and wont update.

Help please

Does it load part of the way, then just stop? If so, it seems to do that when it's really busy - like when there's a new OS released.

I'd keep trying. Sorry, not much help!

its starts like the green bar starts flashing on the downlaod bar but then says timed out.
