i remember a post a while back where someone snapped both compression struts while reversing his motor (mk2 escort i think) and then he redrilled some of the holes and fitted different bolts

what exactlly happened with the post and did the info about bolts and sizes ever get posted?

rebuilding the sierra and now need to know whats what with this sort of stuff

It was Andy with the Cossie 4x4 Mk2 Escort. The bolts snapped IIRC, and he upgraded the size from M8 to M10 or similar.

so can i assume that he simply opened up the holes and then threaded them or was it more complicated than that?

afaik these are some nuts inside the chassis rail, dont know the right name for them...
But could be a bit more work than just open them up.

i thought he'd snapped the bolts in the actul comp struts themselves?

the ones that held the ends to the tca's?
