As you can see the shim that is bonded to the back of the pad has moved as the glue has obviously melted with the heat. Could have been fatal if this had gone unnoticed by some women that doesnt know any different about cars.
Got to be a recall on these I think.
Sorry about having to click the links folks but I'm on my phone as my laptop is gay at the moment.

Nah been at Dingbro for just over 4 yrs now. They are Delphi discs and pads but not sure what they were on but I will find out.
Question grant? How did to know I worked for BMW? Do I know you or have you got an awful good memory from an old post???

By any chance are they off a passat or any vw? I did a set of disks an pads on my mums mates passat and the exact same had happened , I was truly shocked when I took the wheel off, she said the brakes were grinding ! She karts her 2 kids about on the school run too, could have been very dangerous!

Ahhh ok mate. Paranoia was kicking in lol
Wattie nae sure what they came off but I'm goin to ask on Monday! Certainly not clever that's for sure. If that was my wifes car carrying my kids about I would be going daft.

I've seen something similar when some numpty split the caliper to fit new pads but the piston was siezed so when it was all bolted back together the disc was forced over at a slight angle and sheared off after a few miles.

20K+ Super Poster.
Seen it a few times, my dads neighbour wanted me to help with his new arms/struts/discs pads, one of the pads was half missing(3 years old), discs were ok, but I've seen the above many times, even seen brake pads turn to a material like a weetabix due to overheating.
